Anup Rege, who was scheduled to take the paper at Mithibai college, said: "Many of my friends are very nervous and [some are] even crying. What's going on with Mumbai University, are they trying to become like other universities, which don't have any credibility? We had prepared so much for this paper, and at last moment we were informed that our paper is cancelled. We are fed up with such things...this is mental torture."
Wednesday's paper being the last for Anup, the Reges had planned a vacation. All plans have been put on hold now.

Some students felt that they were being made to pay for the university's callousness.

Raj Gagate spoke to in Chetna college, Bandra, his examination centre: "Now the university will send [a] third set of paper. The third set of every paper is always very tough. The university is responsible for paper leakages, but they are making us to pay for their mistake. Why not let police investigate the matter and take action against whoever is responsible?" he asked.

Aditya Bhide along with his friends was left stranded at M L Dahanukar college when the news of the cancellation came. "Financial accounting syllabus being very lengthy, we prepared for this paper the whole year...a last minute cancellation can upset a lot of things," he said.

Aditya's brother's marriage is scheduled for May 14. "If the paper is rescheduled around May 14, it will be a disaster for me," he said.
