The Indian High Commission in Islamabad on Monday granted visas for visiting India to two relatives of Pakistani prisoner Sanaullah Ranjay, critically injured in a scuffle with another inmate in a Jammu jail.
The visa applications of Sanaullah's brother-in-law and cousin were received at the Indian High Commission at 7.30 pm (local time), official sources told PTI. The applications would be processed and the visas would be issued expeditiously, sources had said.
Fifty-two-year-old Sanaullah, a resident of Sialkot in Pakistan, is serving a life term after being convicted under Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act provisions following his arrest in 1999. He was injured during a scuffle in high-security Kot Balwal jail in Jammu on Friday and was immediately shifted to Government Medical College Hospital and later rushed to PGIMER in Chandigarh in an air ambulance after doctors said his condition was critical.
He was attacked a day after the death of Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh, who was brutally assaulted by six inmates in Lahore's Kot Lakhpat jail.
