P J Thomas set to become new Central Vigilance Commissioner

P J Thomas, secretary in the Ministry of Telecommunications, is all set to be appointed as the new Central Vigilance Commissioner.

Thomas, a 1973 batch Indian Administrative Services officer of Kerala cadre, is expected to take charge following superannuation of incumbent Pratyush Sinha on Monday, official sources said.

A formal announcement in this regard is likely to be made on Monday.

Sinha, a 1969 batch IAS officer of Bihar cadre, had assumed office in September 2006.

Thomas's name was cleared by a selection committee comprising Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Prithviraj Chavan, they said.
