One-man, one-post: President accepts minister Danve's resignation

March 06, 2015 17:04 IST

President Pranab Mukherjee on Friday accepted the resignation of Minister of State for Consumer Affairs and Food and Public Distribution, Raosaheb Dadarao Danve, from the Union Council of Ministers.

President, as advised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accepted the resignation of Danve with immediate effect, Rashtrapati Bhavan said in a communique.

Danve, who was appointed as the new Maharashtra BJP chief in January by party President Amit Shah, had submitted his resignation to the Prime Minister on Thursday over the principle of "one-man, one-post". Modi accepted the resignation and sent it to the President.

Danve had taken over as the state BJP president after Devendra Fadnavis, under whose leadership the party came to power in the October 15 Assembly polls, became chief minister of Maharashtra.

A four-time member of Lok Sabha from Jalna in the Marathwada region, Danve has risen through the ranks after entering politics at the panchayat level.

He has said he will concentrate on party affairs in the state.
