December 29, 2010 23:26 IST

Janta Party leader Subramanian Swamy who has filed a private complaint against 2G spectrum allocation scam in court, on Wednesday said that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was moving in right direction with regard to probe in the matter.

"I would like to say that PM understood the issue. The actions that he is taking show that he is moving in the right direction. I will wait till January 15 before deciding on further course of action in the matter," Swamy said while delivering lecture on corruption at a function organised by Bharatiya Vichar Manch in Ahmedabad.

Swamy has filed a private complaint in a Delhi court alleging that former telecom minister A Raja was involved in the 2G spectrum allocation scam and action needs to be taken against the minister under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

When asked about Ratan Tata, Sawmy said, "I don't think Ratan Tata was an angel to begin with. It was too much to expect from him. He is just a businessmen and he has functioned like one."

Swamy said that only solution that he sees to fight corruption was to severely punish those guilty. If such examples are set other would think twice before indulging in corruption.

He further said that there were new avenues to fight corruption like the Right to Information Act and the Public Interest Litigations.
