Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley would call on US President Barack Obama during his stay in New Delhi and discuss with him important international issues.

Sushma is Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha while Jaitley is the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha.

Informing rediff.com about the meeting with President Obama, BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain however said that no time had been fixed for the meeting yet.

"The ministry of external affairs would convey the time of the meeting in due course. It could take place on November 8 as per the schedule of the visiting dignitary," party leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said.

The issues that the two leaders would take up with the visiting dignitary, will be finalised after the duo's meeting with party chairman L K Advani.

Surprisingly, two former external affairs ministers -- Jaswant Singh and Yashwant Sinha -- do not figure anywhere in the consultations with Jaitley and Swaraj.

The BJP has adopted a staunch nationalistic approach towards any attempt to, what it terms as, overlooking the national interests to please the US.

According to party sources, Advani would meet Obama at the banquet to be hosted by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at Ashok Hotel.

The Rashtrapati Bhavan, besides giving the names of important dignitaries from various political parties (23 in all including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi), is maintaining a studied silence on the invitation extended to other VVIPs for the banquet to be hosted by President Pratibha Patil.
