When Nobel laureates Obama and Satyarthi met

January 27, 2015 14:30 IST

Before giving a rousing farewell speech at Siri Fort where he mentioned the efforts of Nobel Peace Prize winner Kailash Satyarthi, US President Barack and wife Michelle Obama met the Nobel laureate and his wife along with two children, who Satyarthi rescued.

The US president and Michelle met Kailash Satyarthi and wife Sumedha and 12-year-old Priya Jangid, and 8-year-old Deepak, who have been rescued by Satyarthi’s NGO Bachpan Bachao Andolan.

The two Nobel laureates -- Obama won the peace prize in 2009 for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples -- had a brief chat following which the US president addressed the crowds at Siri Fort.

Obama will now make his way to Saudi Arabia where he is going to pay his respects to the late King Abdullah and meet the new monarch.
