In an exclusive chat with rediff.com, Pattali Makkal Katchi founder-leader Dr S Ramadoss on Monday said that his party has not taken a final decision about joining the Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam-Congress combine to fight the Tamil Nadu assembly poll.
On Sunday, DMK chief and TN Chief Minister M Karunanidhi had told the media in Delhi that the PMK will fight the state polls with the DMK-Congress alliance.
Ramadoss told rediff.com that many other political parties had also approached the PMK to forge a coalition and a final decision will be taken by the executive council of the party.
A member of the PMK general council, on condition of anonymity, told rediff.com, "We contested 31 seats in 2006. The PMK's vote percentage has increased, so we will ask for 45 seats this time. The PMK will join the front that allocates the party seats close to that figure. We have to increase our vote percentage and win more seats."
Incidentally, the PMK had fought the 2009 Lok Sabha elections along with the Opposition All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam led by Jayalalithaa.
