January 12, 2013 22:17 IST

Pakistan has not yet responded to a call by the Indian Army to hold a flag meeting in Poonch sector in Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of the brutal killing of two Indian soldiers.

Two days after the Indian Army sought a Brigadier-level flag meeting, the Pakistan Army is yet to respond, army sources said on Saturday.

In that area, there are four local hotlines between the two sides at Chakkan da Bagh, Uri, Balnoi and Tangdhar.

The flag meeting is most likely to be called at Balnoi which is closest to the site of the incident.

The army headquarters said the last ceasefire violation incident was reported by local formations on January 10. No firing has been reported in the last two days.

Defence Secretary Shashikant Sharma had on Friday briefed the Prime Minister's Office about the situation along the Line of Control in Poonch sector which has seen several ceasefire violations by the Pakistan Army in the last few days.

Army sources said since last year, there have been more than 120 ceasefire violations by Pakistan along Jammu and Kashmir, which include 97 along the LoC and the remaining along the International Border.
