No intelligence about specific area in Hyderabad: Shinde

Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde visited the blasts site at Hyderabad's busy Dilsukh Nagar area on Friday morning along with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and other senior officials.

Addressing the media after his visit, Shinde said that 14 people were killed in Wednesday evening’s blast and 119 were injured. Six among those hurt were critical. 

Shinde said, "There was a general alert out for the entire nation. I don't think the police have failed. The Delhi police intelligence did not mention specific area in Hyderabad." 

The home minister refused

to name any organisation, which could have carried out the blasts.

After his visit to the blast site, he also visited the hospitals where the injured were being treated. He said that all medical expenses for the blast victims will be borne by the state government. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has announced a compensation of Rs 6 lakh for the kin of those killed in the blasts and Rs 50,000 for those injured, he said.

Shinde spoke to investigators and took stock of the situation. He assured that the probe would be completed soon, but also added that it would not be right indulge in speculation at the moment.
