'Item girl' Nigar Khan was on Monday deported from the country on charges of visa norm violation.
When rediff.com spoke to the glamorous model, she was being detained at the immigration office at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International airport.
Nigar said she married an Indian six months ago and that she possesses all the valid documents.
She did not, however, reveal her husband's name. Media sources said she shares an apartment with fellow model Sahil Khan.
"I had gone to the foreign registration office to extend my stay in India but they said that I was living illegally in the country," Nigar said. "They told me that my visa is not valid...they were just not listening to me."
During the conversation, this reporter overheard Nigar pleading with a police officer that all her papers were in order.
Nigar is a citizen of Norway.
Speaking to PTI, city police commissioner A N Roy said, "Nigar was on a visitor's visa but she has been engaging herself in commercial ventures, which is a blatant violation of visa norms of the country."
"She had been issued a notice on the matter a month ago and now she has been deported," he said.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil said, "Though I do not have any information on this particular case, action should be taken against all those persons violating the visa norms."
Asked whether similar action will be taken against others violating visa norms, Patil told reporters "it is not possible to keep a check on each and every person but if we are aware of any persons who violate visa norm, they will not be spared."
