32 dead in encephalitis outbreak in Nepal

Encephalitis has claimed 32 lives in western Nepal over the past one week while scores of people have been admitted to hospitals with the disease.

Thirty people died due to the outbreak in Kailali district, according to the officials. Twenty two patients out of the 92 people who were admitted to the Seti Zonal Hospital have died while undergoing treatment, according to the District Public Health Office.

Eight patients succumbed to the disease at Tikapur Hospital where a total of 62 patients are currently receiving treatment for the disease.

Two children died of encephalitis and meningitis in Butawal in Rupandehi district on Tuesday, state run The Rising
