My husband's life in danger because of Modi govt, says Tomar's wife

Former Delhi law minister Jitender Singh Tomar's wife, Preeti, on Tuesday said that the fake degree case initiated against him was a political conspiracy, and claimed that her husband's life was in danger from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre.

"Ever since my husband won the elections, there has been a political conspiracy that has been going on against him. To investigate his degree, [the Delhi Police] can go to the colleges or universities and only then come to my house. How can they come to my house without any notice? What connection does my house have to degrees? They came and took out all our belongings from cupboards and suitcases.... they want to mentally torture us," Preeti said.

"He is totally innocent. What connection does that degree have to his being elected as an MLA? This is just an excuse... the person who lost the elections is hell-bent on ruining my husband. My husband's life is in danger because of this Modi government. They can do anything. Everyone knows what is going on," she added.

Tomar is accused of possessing two fake degrees: a law degree and a BSC degree. An FIR was lodged against him under IPC Sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120B for criminal conspiracy, cheating and forgery.

Last week, Tomar was arrested in connection with his fake law degree. He has so far maintained that his degree is not fake and accused the Centre of hatching a conspiracy into the entire episode.
