Last updated on: April 02, 2008 17:11 IST
The Central government on Wednesday clarified that the Mumbai airport will continue to be called Chhatrapati Shivaji international airport and that the statue of Shivaji will not be shifted from there, keeping in mind the local sensibilities.

Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel has directed promoters
of the Mumbai International Airport Limited to keep in mind local sensibilities while undertaking the upgrade and modernisation of Mumbai airport.

The ministry denied allegations that the government had given permission for the change of the name of the airport and location of the Shivaji statue.
