In a security breach at the Mumbai airport, a speeding private taxi entered the restricted service road in the operations area on Thursday morning, triggering an alarm before the vehicle was intercepted.
A speeding private taxi driven by Manisha Pawar, 21, was intercepted soon after it entered the operations area from gate number 5 of the International Airport in suburban Andheri, Central Industrial Security Force sources told PTI.
Pawar was at the international airport when she claimed to have received a phone call stating a taxi was needed for a passenger at the domestic airport.
A catering truck was entering into the airport service road from gate number 5 around 10.30 am when the airport safety wing men spotted the taxi closely following it.
An alarm was raised and the taxi was immediately intercepted and the driver taken into custody, the sources said.
"It appears that she was misguided about the route to reach the domestic airport from the International airport," a CISF official said.
"The victim says she has no idea of the route and that she entered the restricted area by mistake," he said, adding Pawar was handed over to the local police for questioning.
