Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who was denied an American visa three years ago, will address via video conferencing a function organised by overseas fans of the Bharatiya Janata Party in New Jersey to celebrate his victory in state assembly elections.

Modi was denied visa by the US government in March 2005 in the wake of the 2002 post-Godhra riots.

Modi, will address leading Indians in the US for about one and half hours on February 2 from his residence in Gandhinagar, officials of the Chief Minister's Office said.

The progaramme will be held at Royal Albert Hall of the US city to which 1,200 prominent NRIs have been invited by the organisers. Live telecast of the programme will be done in the US and Canada which can be watched by the NRI community in those two countries, the officials said.

Modi was denied a diplomatic visa by the US administration three years back. His tourist-cum-business visa (which was given to him earlier) was also revoked by the US at that time leaving no chance for him to enter that country.

This would be the second time that Modi will be addressing his supporters in the US via the airwaves. He had done it in 2005 after denial of visa to him.
