Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, whose campaign had led to exodus of migrant labourers from Nashik, has claimed to have provided jobs to 1,000 Marathi youths in Satpur and Ambad industrial areas of the district.

Local MNS leader, Pradeep Vazare, said work on scrutiny of pending job applications submitted with the Raj Thackeray-led party was in progress.

MNS, which launched its campaign against north Indian migrants last month, had issued advertisements in local newspapers asking unemployed Marathi youth to enroll with the party, which would provide them jobs in industrial units in Nashik.

Thousands of skilled and unskilled north Indian workers had left this North Maharashtra district in aftermath of the MNS' violent stir, adversely affecting production in small scale industries.

MNS general secretary Vasant Gite and other party leaders had a meeting with industry associations where the issue of jobs for locals was discussed.

"We have received good response (to the MNS ad) from the youths," Vazare said.
