MHA asks Assam police to send molestation case report

Director General of Assam police J N Chaudhary confirmed on Friday night that the Union home ministry has asked him to send a detailed report on molestation of a minor girl in Guwahati on Monday.

"Yes, Home Minister P Chidambaram has asked for a report and the same is being sent to him by Saturday," he told exclusively to rediff.com.

The incident took place on GS road in Guwahati. "Tweleve persons were involved and eleven have been indentified. Two of them have left Assam and we would have to coordinate with the police force of those states," he said.

"Four have been arrested and the state police is on the look out for others," he said.

On asked whether all the culprits were from Assam, he said, "No. Some of them are from the state, while others are from other states."

"We are going to use the video as evidence and he (the person who shot the video) will depose as a witness. One of the off duty police official tipped us off about the incident," said top Assam said.

P Chidambaram pulled up the DGP for comments made by one of his officers who said that 'investigation was not like an ATM machine that you put your card in the machine and get your money.'
