Mentally ill woman raped by hospital official in Bihar

Two incidents of rape were reported in Bihar on Sunday where a mentally ill woman was allegedly raped by an official of a government hospital, while a minor girl was gangraped by two youths, the police said.

A police official said that a mentally retarded woman was raped on Saturday by Ram Sakal Ram in the premises of Sadar hospital in Motihari, district headquarters of East Champaran.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar said that medical tests of the victim were conducted and her statement was recorded under section 164 of the IPC before a judicial magistrate.

said that the accused has been absconding after a case was lodged against him.

District Civil Surgeon Dr Saroj Singh has ordered the suspension of Ram, a fourth grade employee.

In another case, a 16 year-old-girl was gangraped on Sunday by two youths in a village in Gopalganj district.

Earlier, a college girl was allegedly abducted and gangraped by two married men in a sugarcane field near a village in Samastipur district.

Last week, a 12-year-old girl was gangraped by three youths in a village in Patna district. Police have arrested one of the accused, while two accused are absconding.
