Mayawati's 'surprise' action against UP officials

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Tuesday ordered action against more than half a dozen officials, including IAS and IPS officers, during surprise inspection of two districts.

"The CM carried out surprise inspection of Jhansi and Lalitpur districts to review progress of development works, implementation of welfare schemes launched by the government, state of essential services, law and order situation," a government spokesman said in Lucknow.

During review of law and order and welfare schemes in Jhansi, Mayawati ordered immediate transfer of the DM for slack supervision and the SSP for failing to improve law and order situation.

She also ordered departmental action against the two officers, he said. For failing to control crime, the CM ordered suspension of a deputy superintendent of police and a station house officer of Mauranipur tehsil in Jhansi district. She also ordered suspension of Pargana Adhikari and tehsildar in Garautha for slackness in supervision.

During inspection in Lalitpur district, Mayawati ordered suspension of public works department engineers, including superintending engineer, for poor and incomplete construction works.
