March 25, 2011 13:20 IST
Maoists blew up two middle school buildings in Bihar's Aurangabad district early on Friday that created panic among the local residents, police said.

Police officials in Aurangabad said that armed Maoists used dynamite to blow up Tetrain middle school and Judupur middle school under Dev block .

In the last six months, Maoists have targetted half a dozen school buildings in Aurangabad and Gaya districts.

Last week, Maoists blew up a school building in Gaya.

A combing operation has been launched in the area.

The banned Communist Party of India-Maoist guerillas are active in Aurangabad and are said to enjoy support base among poor people belonging to backward castes and Dalits.
