The Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department has arrested an accused in connection with the 2002 Sai Baba Temple blast case in Hyderabad.

Salahuddin Salar, former All India President of the banned Student's Islamic Movement of India was brought to Hyderabad from Ujjain prison in connection with November 21, 2002 Sai Baba Temple Bomb Blast case, which had claimed two lives.

Salar, was absconding after the blast. His name figured in the confession of one of the accused who was arrested in the blast case, a senior CID officer told PTI.

He had gone to Dubai where he was arrested in a cheating case and was extradited to India.

Later, the Madhya Pradesh police arrested him for making a provocative speech in 1998 in Ujjain.

The CID after taking the transit permission from a court in Hyderabad took custody of Salar from Madhya Pradesh and he was brought on a Prisoner's Transit Warrant to Hyderabad and produced before the court in Hyderabad on Tuesday morning which remanded him in judicial custody for 15 days.

The CID officer said they will file application tomorrow seeking police custody of Salar. "We will move application seeking 14 day police custody of Salar. We want to thoroughly interrogate him in connection with the temple blast and other cases," the CID officer said.
