Maha reports 1,576 new corona cases, 49 deaths

As many as 1,576 new COVID-19 cases were detected in Maharashtra on Friday, taking the number of such patients in the state to 29,100, the health department said.

As the virus claimed 49 more lives, the death toll rose to 1,068, it said in a statement.

Of the 49 deaths reported during the day, 34 were in Mumbai. The city also reported 933 of the 1,576 new cases on Friday, the statement said.

Of the total 29,100 positive cases recorded in the state, 17,671 were found in Mumbai alone and of the 1,068 deaths, 655 were reported in the city, the statement said.

The entire Mumbai Metropolitan Region has reported 21,925 cases and 718 deaths.

 

On Friday, 505 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals, taking the number of recovered persons to 6,564.

The total active cases in the state are now 21,468, it said.

The doubling rate of patients is now 11 days, the statement said.

Till now, 2,50,436 people have been tested in the state. Currently 3,29,302 people are in home quarantine and 16,306 in institutional quarantine.

Currently, there are 1,473 active containment zones in the state.

Maharashtra's COVID-19 figures are as follows: Positive cases 29,100, deaths 1,068, active cases 21,460, discharged 6,564, people tested 2,50,436.
