Where will Naidu take oath as Seemandhra CM?

May 27, 2014 13:59 IST

The Telugu Desam Party has confirmed that its chief Chandrababu Naidu will be sworn in as the chief minister of Seemandhra on June 8. The ceremony will take place six days after Telangana Rashtra Samithi supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao is sworn in as Telangana chief minister. However, the TDP, while confirming the date, pointed out that the venue for the ceremony has not yet been decided upon.

“Naidu will be sworn-in in Seemandhra and we are now contemplating finding a place between Vijayawada and Guntur,” TDP sources informed.

Naidu will work from Hyderabad for some time until a new capital is built. Earlier, it was being speculated that Naidu may take oath at the temple town Tirupati, but it was ruled out later.

Meanwhile, there is no such confusion over the venue in Telangana. KCR will take oath as the first CM of the new state on June 2 in Hyderabad, and the time has been fixed at 8.15 am. Fourteen others will also take oath on the same day.

His first job as chief minister would be to give compensation to those families who lost their dear ones in the Telangana struggle. At around 2 pm on Sunday, he will also sign an agreement that would waive off farmers’ loans up to Rs 1 lakh.
