TDP-BJP combine ahead in Seemandhra assembly polls

May 16, 2014 13:27 IST

The Telugu Desam Party-Bharatiya Janata Party combine on Friday appeared set for an impressive performance in Seemandhra by leading in about 90 Assembly seats, followed by YSR Congress in around 70, out of the total 175 seats in the region.

A humiliating defeat looked imminent for Congress as the party was not leading anywhere, as per information coming in from different Seemandhra districts.

TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu and YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy were leading in Kuppam and Pulivendula Assembly segments, respectively.

Jaganmohan Reddy is leading by a margin of 18,331 votes after the completion of sixth round counting in Pulivendula Assembly segment of Kadapa district.

YSR Congress candidates are ahead in the six Assembly seats in Kadapa, while TDP nominees are leading in 4.
