FIR against Rajkot Cong MP for 'violating code of conduct'

May 05, 2014 09:44 IST

An FIR has been lodged against Rajkot Congress Member of Parliament Kunvarji Bavaliya for allegedly violating the model code of conduct during the April 30 polling in Gujarat, police said on Sunday.

Bavaria, who contested Parliamentary polls to retain his Rajkot seat, went to vote in Vinchhiya town, wearing a scarf with the Congress election symbol.

The Rajkot BJP unit had urged the district Election Commission to register a case against Bavalia for breaching the model code of conduct.

"We have registered an FIR against Bavaliya in Vinchhiya police station after getting a direction by district Election Commission officials," a senior police official at Vinchhiya police station said.

This is the second complaint filed against Bavalia.

Earlier, BJP's Jasdan palika president Munnabhai Sojitra had filed a complaint against Bavaliya for threatening to kill him a couple of days ago.
