Don't talk of money when mics are on: Ramdev to BJP candidate

April 18, 2014 00:44 IST

In an embarrassment for Ramdev, the yoga guru was caught on TV camera murmuring to Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Mahant Chandnath not to talk about money when mics are on after the latter told him that he was running short of money during electioneering in Alwar constituency.

The conversation which took place moments before the start of a press conference in Alwar on Wednesday, got recorded as the mics were on.

Moments before the conference, Chandnath told Ramdev that he was facing problems in bringing money there to which the yoga guru reacted and warned him to not talk about money when microphones are on.

He murmured, "Stop talking here, are you a fool." Chandnath, BJP candidate from Alwar constituency, realised this and smiled.

When contacted, Chandnath said that he did not speak such thing to Ramdev.

Alwar is among the five constituencies out of total 25 where polling will take place in second phase on April 24.

Meanwhile, Congress on Thursday demanded arrest of Ramdev and Chandnath for allegedly distributing money to voters.

In a communication to the Election Commission, K C Mittal, Secretary of AICC Legal Department, demanded that FIR be registered against the leaders involved in the malpractice and disqualification of Mahant.
