With the arrest of two suspected Lashkar-e-Tayiba militants, Gujarat Crime Branch police claimed on Tuesday to have unearthed a conspiracy of the outfit to spread its tentacles across various states.

Several jehadi documents and CDs on Gujarat riots have been seized from them, police said in a statement.

Acting on a tip-off, police nabbed the two at a guesthouse in Kalupur area of Ahmedabad. While one of them, Iliyas Memon, is from Shah Alam area in the old city, Khalid is said to be from Jammu and Kashmir.

Police also said there could be a possible link between the Mumbai blasts, arms recovery in Aurangabad, the Ahmedabad station blast and the arrests in Delhi.

They said two agents -- Imran and Wasir Kashmiri -- had been inciting young men from Gujarat to go for training in Kashmir.

Police claimed that 20 such men are already back in Gujarat after their training and could strike at any moment on LeT orders.

Imran and Kashmiri had also sent Illiyas for training in January this year. They had first met him at the Tadkeswar madrassa, where they studied together for eight years.

In fact, Imran had taken Illiyas from Vadodara to Kolkata with an intention to cross over to Bangladesh, but they could not succeed.

During their stay in Kolkata, they were in touch with their Pakistani and Bangladeshi counterparts.

They had been circulating CDs on the Gujarat riots and those containing jehadi speeches among Muslim youths; they had also been arranging passports to send them to Bangladesh, police said.

Now the LeT network could have spread to Anand, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Bharuch, Godhra, Surat, Bhopal, Aurangabad, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Patna and cities in Jammu and Kashmir, the statement said.
