Legendary singer Manna Dey passes away in Bengaluru

Legendary singer Manna Dey who was suffering from a lung infection passed away in Bengaluru on Thursday morning at 3:33 am. He was 94. He was being treated from respiratory and renal problems.

Dey will be cremated at 12.30 pm at the Hebbal grounds on Thursday. His body will be placed at the Ravindra Kalakshethra in Bengaluru between 10.30 am and 12.30 pm for fans, well wishers and family members who want to pay their last respects. 

The decision on whether to accord a state funeral or not has not yet been taken and government officials are discussing the same of now. His body is at a private hospital in Bengaluru where family members are completing last minute formalities.

Several visitors have already started to come in to pay their last respects. Dey was shifted to ICU on Wednesday to be treated for a respiratory ailment. He has been in and out of hospital and had undergone dialysis in September.

He is survived by his daughters Shuroma and Sumita. Dey's wife Sulochana had died last year after battling cancer.
