Leaked nude photo? It's pure art, says Ukraine politician Olga Lyulchak

September 25, 2014 13:42 IST

Of the many political battles that Ukraine is waging these days, this is one it does not intend to wage.

Olga Lyulchak, a 30-year-old woman running for a seat in the Ukranian parliament, is among the many celebrities who iCloud accounts were hacked to obtain personal -- and nude -- photos.

But unlike other celebs who have been crying foul over this major breach of their privacy, Lyulchak has been playing cool.

When asked about her nude photo circulating over the Internet in forums, she said: "The world honours the great works of great masters such as Van Gogh, Titian and others. They created naked beauty which was admired. In our day and age woman who appear naked are considered vulgar or

shameful. I can’t understand it. I think they are pure art."

Lyulchak, who lost her spot on Kiev city council in the local elections in May this year, is standing in the October 26 election with ex-heavyweight champ Vitali Klitschko's Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform party.

The media is abuzz with reports on Lyuchak, more for the photo leak controversy though than her electoral fortunes.

Online website inquisitr reported that unlike the grainy nude selfies of celebrities such as Kim Kardashian that have appeared as part of the recent celebrity leak, photos of Lyulchak appear professionally produced, and generally tasteful, if sultry.
