Kumar Vishwas files FIR against UP Congress leader

February 22, 2014 16:36 IST

Cross FIRs were lodged against 30 people, including Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Vishwas and a Congress leader, after an altercation between activists of both parties, at Peparpur police station in Amethi district.

Police said an FIR had been lodged against 15 people, including Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee member Munna Singh, on the complaint of a representative of Vishwas.

Meanwhile, an FIR has also been lodged against 15 AAP workers, including Vishwas, on the complaint filed by Singh, they said.

District Superintendent of Police Heera Lal said necessary action would be taken after a probe.

Reacting to the incident, Vishwas said if police do not take action within two days, then he would gherao the police station.

Munna, on the other hand, accused the AAP leader of creating an “atmosphere of anarchy” in Amethi and said his allegations were baseless.

According to sources, the altercation started after Congress activists objected to AAP workers' slogan, "Abhi to Sheila (former Delhi CM) haari hai, Ab Rahul ki baari hai
(Sheila has been defeated, now it's Rahul's turn)", during a 'jhadu yatra' on Friday.

This led to a verbal duel between the activists of the Congress and the AAP.

However, the AAP leader had alleged that the Congress activists, led by Singh, attacked them at Thishundi village of Amethi's Vadar development block, and threatened to kill them.
