In a bid to combat terror, the Karnataka state government has decided to set up a State Security Commission.
The commission, which will be headed by the state Home Minister and comprise top police officials and experts, will guide the government in devising strategies to combat terror in the state.
Home Minister V S Acharya told media persons that the commission would suggest various measures that the state could undertake to combat terror.
The suggestions would include infrastructure and also measures to be undertaken to upgrade equipment to be used by the police force to fight the menace of terror.

The need to set up this commission became stronger after the arrest of six men from Mangalore in connection with the Delhi blast.
The same has been conveyed to the Union Home Minister, Shivraj Patil.
Acharya said that during the recent visit of Patil to the city, he had told him about the proposal and a request to provide funds to set up the same was also made. During the meeting, Patil also assured the Karnataka government that the Centre would share information on terror, which would mean that the State and the Union governments would work in tandem to counter terrorism.
