Stung by the Bharatiya Janata Party cold-shouldering him, former Delhi chief minister Madanlal Khurana today joined Uma Bharti's Bharatiya Jan Shakti as its acting president.

Making the announcement in the presence of Bharti, Khurana said he would continue to lead the rest of his life with the ideals of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the BJP.

Claiming that BJP was in the "grip of conspirators", he accused "certain BJP leaders" of spreading "distorted news"
about him and Bharti.

Bharti said her party will contest the elections in Punjab, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and the polls for the Municipal Corportation of Delhi.

Khurana said he would campaign for BJS candidates in the poll-bound states.

Asked about reports that Bharti and Khurana were keen on re-joining the BJP, both the leaders termed them as "distorted".

On his visit to the residence of the Leader of Opposition L K Advani, Khurana claimed that he had gone there to wish him on the occasion of Deepawali.

Bharti said a section of the BJP leaders was spreading stories about their return to the party. "But you (BJP
leaders) have to learn to live without us," she said.
