Former Delhi chief minister Madan Lal Khurana claimed on Friday that he has turned down expelled Bharatiya Janata Party leader Uma Bharti's 'offer' to lead her party, as he is planning to launch a 'secular' Third Front in the capital.
"She offered me the post of president of the party she is launching on Saturday in Ujjain. I didn't accept the offer, but I will attend the event in Ujjain as an observer," he told PTI.
Khurana said he has had a meeting with former prime minister V P Singh and Jan Morcha leader Raj Babbar over his plans to launch a third front, following his resignation from the BJP.
"I met both of them and discussed plans to launch a secular front, to begin with in Delhi," the veteran Swayamsewak, who snapped his decades-old ties with the BJP last week, said.
Khurana, who has vowed to challenge BJP MP Vijay Kumar Malhotra in next general elections, said he would also be meeting Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav soon.
