As Bharatiya Janata Party leaders L K Advani and Rajnath Singh set out on their twin yatras, suspended party leader Madan Lal Khurana announced on Wednesday that he would launch his own tour of the capital. He added that former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Uma Bharti would join him.

Khurana, suspended from the BJP for defying party directives, told a news conference that his 'Delhi Bachao Sangharsh Yatra', beginning Saturday, would be a protest tour against the court-ordered demolitions and sealings of commercial stores in residential zones.

The veteran swayamsewak said he would visit Ayodhya on Friday to offer prayers at the makeshift Ram temple before setting out on his Delhi yatra the next day.

Khurana, who accuses Advani of having compelled him to quit as Delhi chief minister in 1996, however, refused to comment when asked if he intended to join the party Bharti proposes to launch on April 30.

But, he said, she would join him in his Delhi yatra for the first two days - "Uma Bharti will accompany me during the first two days of the yatra, which will start from Sadar in Delhi."

He also warned that he would go on an indefinite hunger strike if the government did not act on his demand to reverse court orders on sealings and demolitions through an ordinance.
