The 40-year-old boyfriend of a missing Mexican woman was on Tuesday arrested for allegedly murdering her and disposing off the body in a suitcase after burning half of it, near Thrisshur in Kerala, said the police.

Ceule Denise Acosta, who was learning Mohiniyattam here, was missing since April 9.

Her boyfriend Manric, also a Mexican national, had complained that Acosta went missing after she boarded a bus at Krishnankovil near Virudhunagar in Tamil Nadu.

Police said Manric, a P.hd student at Kalasalingam University near Srivilliputhur, was angry with Acosta as she decided to go with her French boyfriend.

Manric told police that she wanted him to hand over their five-year-old daughter and there was a heated exchange between the couple.

The police suspect that the partially burnt body found in the suitcase could be that of Acosta. The age group and body description matched that of Acosta's and the body had been recovered two days after she went missing.

The body's identity could be confirmed only after report of the skull superimposition test was received.
