The Kerala unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party is unhappy with the Lok Sabha poll schedule for the state.
P K Krishnadas, president of the BJP's state unit, told reporters that the last day of campaigning falls on April 14, which clashes with Vishu, the most popular Hindu festival in Kerala.
BJP's state general secretary M T Ramesh informed reporters that the party has already petitioned the EC about changing the election dates in Kerala.
Both the Left Democratic Front and the United Democratic Front have already kicked off the election campaign, with the latter finalising seat-sharing arrangements.
UDF constituent Congress will contest from 17 seats, the Muslim League from two seats and the Kerala Congress (Mani) from one seat. The LDF is still working out the finer details of its seat sharing arrangements.
With the LDF facing anti-incumbency factors, the Congress party is in a buoyant mood. But the Congress is also wary of the young leaders in the Communist party of India Marxist. If the Congress decides to field fresh faces for the LS polls, the UDF might win in the state with a huge margin.
Incidentally, the BJP has already finalised the candidates for 11 seats, but the party doesn't expect any concrete results from this election.
