Kashmir police take steps to arrest stress

January 16, 2011 21:03 IST
The Jammu and Kashmir police force is organising series of recreational activities for its personnel and their families to ease out the levels of stress and tension under which its officers and jawans have been discharging their duties over the past 20 years.

J&K Director General of Police Kuldeep Khuda said on Sunday that an elaborate plan had been chalked up so that the personnel can de-stress.

"The Jammu and Kashmir police will organise series of cultural events for the entertainment of its personnel and their families to ease their stress caused due to tough duty schedule," Khuda said.

The state police have been in the forefront of fighting militancy and maintaining law and order duties in the violence-hit state.

Thousands of officers and jawans of the state police and their kin have been killed during the last 20 years. Last year, hundreds of cops were injured during the summer unrest in the Valley that claimed 112 lives and left many more wounded.
