Defence equipment manufacturer MKU Pvt Ltd on Friday said it has bagged an order of over Rs 100 crore from the home ministry to supply 59,000 bulletproof jackets for the central paramilitary forces, especially the Central Reserve Police Force.

"The home ministry has asked MKU to deliver all the jackets in the next eight months and it is likely that the first lot of jackets will be delivered to the CRPF by June," the company said in a statement.

MKU was short-listed out of nine companies as the best ballistic protection equipment provider, it added. The Kanpur-based company said it has been awarded this tender by "MHA (and is) worth more than Rs 100 crore, making it one of the biggest tenders of its kind in recent times".

"As industry innovators and leaders, we have worked out a design and solution which will surpass the stringent specifications of the tenders and we are confident of delivering the full consignment within the time-frame," MKU marketing head Ruchir Shah said.
