Now, British police want Gustad

The British police want to talk to filmmaker Kaizad Gustad -- currently in judicial custody in Mumbai over the death of his assistant Nadia Khan -- in connection with a probe into the harassment of an author and his family, according to a report in The Times on Saturday.

It is alleged that Gustad demanded money and threatened members of the writer's family in a park in Kensington, west London.

Documents seen by The Times show that Gustad sent abusive emails to William Rhode, 32, and left him and his family afraid for their lives.

"The investigation remains open and inquiries continue to trace the suspect," a police spokesman said.

According to Rhode the harassment began after he published his first novel, Paperback Raita, last year. He had known Gustad seven years earlier in India and admits that he had drawn on his experiences in Mumbai for the book.

Gustad left Britain before the police could question him.

He is still listed as wanted on the Police National Computer, the paper said.

In Mumbai, Gustad has been charged with the culpable homicide of his British assistant director Nadia Khan, 26, who died three weeks ago after she was run down by a train on the sets of his new film.
