Judicial committee to look into CM's discretionary powers, says Chavan

Chief Minister of Maharshtra Prithviraj Chauvan said that a judicial committee has been appointed to look into the issue of discretionary powers of chief ministers to allot land.
The reaction comes in the wake of Sonia Gandhi's statement in which she said all land granted by chief ministers under their discretionary quota should be reviewed.
Chavan further commented on Rahul Gandhi's statement on corruption and said that this specifically applies to Karnataka, Maharshtra and New Delhi.
There was also an informal interaction with a top politician from Maharshtra who candidly spoke about the situation in the state.
On Digvijay Singh he said that the home ministry had looked into the call records between Singh and Hemanth Karkare and they were unable to find anything as yet. He however added that this is a conversation between Singh and Karkare. The officer is no more and we can't make comments on that.
On the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, he said that they were more aggressive compared to the Shiv Sena and may survive in the long run. The MNS is sometimes close to the congress and sometimes not. The Nationalist Congress Party is however suspicious of this alliance, he also added.
