The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday claimed to have seized another truckload of schoolbags with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi's image on them.

The Election Commission has banned procurement and distribution of such bags since Friday in view of the coming assembly polls in the state.

The truck, a state BJP spokesman said, was apprehended by party workers near Khursipar and taken to Chhawni police station in neighbouring Durg district.

When contacted Durg Senior Superintendent of Police Ashok Juneja confirmed the incident and said through the district collector they have sought direction from the Election Commission what to do with the seized bags.

On October 21, another truckload of bags was seized after the vehicle overturned in Dhamtari district.

Meanwhile, Chief Election Commissioner J M Lyngdoh said the commission was receiving a number of complaints on the misuse of official machinery ahead of coming assembly polls, which substantiated his argument that 'politicians are becoming worse and worse'.

"We are getting more complaints but we will deal with them. We are checking everything," he told NDTV. The CEC was reacting to the seizure of the bags.

Warning politicians in the fray not to exceed the new limits for election expenses in the coming assembly polls, he said, "I dare say that if people exceed the limit. I am afraid that there will be a whole lot of cases in the court."
