25 killed in bus accident in Jammu

At leastĀ 25 people were killed and 13 injured on Sunday when a bus carrying them fell into a deep gorge near Ramban in BanihalĀ in the hilly Doda district on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway.

The bus was on its way to Magarkot from Shalgarah near Banihal town in Jammu region. The accident occurred when the driver lost control while negotiating a sharp curve at Shalgarah, some four kilometres from Ramban, official sources said.

As the news about the tragedy reached Banihal, police teams immediately rushed to the spot. Efforts were on to shift the injured to Banihal for treatment.

Sources said condition of five passengers was serious. Senior district officers have also rushed to the spot.
