Brisk polling in Leh and Kargil

Brisk polling was reported in Leh and Kargil districts of Jammu and Kashmir, where the first phase of assembly elections covering a total of 10 constituencies, commenced on Monday morning.

As many as 77 votes were polled at the polling station set up in Indoor stadium, Kargil, while 65 votes were cast at higher secondary school, Kargil within minutes.

Polling begins in J&K amid tight security

In Leh, polling was going on at a slow pace. Although the polling started at 8 am, voters came out of their homes half an hour late due to the severe cold sweeping Ladakh region.

Similar reports were received from Zanskar and Nobra assembly constituencies.
