Jaya Prada keen to join BJP

January 15, 2015 21:22 IST

Actor-turned-politician Jaya Prada on Thursday said she wants to join the Bharatiya Janata Party as she is impressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.

"Everyone is impressed by Modi-ji's leadership. Many big leaders want to work with him. Similarly, as an activist, I want to join the party," the former MP told mediapersons in Hyderabad.

Her colleague and former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh was talking to the BJP leadership (in this regard), she said.

"I would like Amar Singh to take the big decisions....he is talking to the BJP leaders," she said.

Jaya Prada, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, acted in about 70 films in Telugu, Hindi, and other Indian languages before entering into politics in the 1990s. She has been with Telugu Desam Party, Samajwadi Party and Rashtriya Lol Dal in her political career so far.

She fought the 2014 Lok Sabha election on the Rashtriya Lok Dal ticket from Bijnor but lost to a BJP candidate.
