Saudi Arabia has highest number of Indians in prison

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh and Singapore top the list of countries with highest number of Indians in prison, the Lok Sabha was informed Wednesday.

Saudi jails have 1,444 Indians, UAE has 937, Bangladesh 893 and Singapore 580 while Pakistan has only 365, Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed said in reply to a question.

The United States had 199 imprisoned Indians, followed by 73 in Kuwait, 72 in Oman, 70 in Lebanon, 58 in Sri Lanka, 51 in Italy and 50 in Myanmar, he said.
