One militant was killed and an army trooper wounded in an ongoing encounter in south Kashmir Tral area of Pulwama district on Saturday morning.
Troops of the Rashtriya Rifles and police jointly surrounded Aaripal village near Tral on Saturday morning on a specific information about the presence of a group of militants there.
“As the security forces were busy searching the area, militants opened fire, triggering an encounter. So far, one militant has been killed,” a senior police officer said. The body of the militant, along with one AK 47 rifle, has been recovered," the spokesman said, adding the operation was still in progress. He said an army jawan was also injured during the operation.
