Two terrorists belonging to terrorist group Lashkar-e-Tayiba [ Images ] and a policeman were killed in a fierce gun battle in Kulgam town in south Kashmir [ Images ] on Monday evening.
A police spokesperson said a joint contingent of troops from the Rashtriya Rifles and the police launched a search operation on specific information about the presence of a group of terrorists in Kulgam.
"The terrorists opened fire at the surrounding security forces, resulting in on the spot death of a policeman," he said.
The spokesperson said that two LeT terrorists were also killed in the gunfight which has now ended.
