Is Pakistan PM Gilani on his way out?

October 11, 2010 15:53 IST

Pakistan Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has been advised by his close political aides to assert himself as a powerful leader or step aside to save his political career.

According to the sources in the ruling Pakistan People's Party, Gilani is quite perturbed over the prevailing situation wherein his whole political career is at stake due to the prevailing political and constitutional mess.

The sources further said that contrary to the powers delegated to him under the recently passed 18th Amendment, Gilani's role has been compromised and with each passing day his say in governmental affairs is shrinking.

They believe that due to this feeble leadership, the discontent in the Prime Minister's camp is growing, the Nation reports.

Sources further said that some the ministers, who are answerable to him, care little for him and they are now directly taking orders from President Asif Ali Zardari.
