Seven policemen and 35 people were wounded when two suicide bombers blew up an explosives-laden car at a police station near Kirkuk, Iraq, on Monday.

Hashem Mohamed of Azadi Hospital said the two bombers were also incinerated by the blast, while most of the 35 wounded were seriously hurt.

Almost nothing was left of three of the policemen, he said.

The attack in the Rahimawa neighbourhood occurred at 1100 IST as 400 policemen changed shifts.

Two people drove up in a white Oldsmobile and the vehicle exploded, said Sergeant Mohammed Mortada.

Ibrahim added two men hadve been arrested near the station for questioning and police were searching for two more cars, a Mercedes and an Opel, in connection with the blast.
